A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Park View Intermediate's two out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies and post-secondary. Thompson Intermediate did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Park View Intermediate is Hispanics who make up nearly 85.39% of student population, followed by African Americans (10.02%), Whites or Caucasians (4.27%), Asians (0.16%) and Two or More Races (0.16%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Thompson Intermediate, Hispanics make up 66.85% of student population, followed by African Americans (16.74%), Asians (8.98%), Whites or Caucasians (5.88%) and Two or More Races (1.44%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Park View Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 86.04% compared to 65.74% at Thompson Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Park View Intermediate has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 28.24% of its student population compared to 14.75% at Thompson Intermediate.
In addition, Park View Intermediate has 24.30% bilingual students, 4.93% are in the gifted and talented program, while 14.94% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Thompson Intermediate with 13.08% bilingual students, 9.98% gifted and talented students and 11.42% students in the special education program.
