Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. The current standards, called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, outline what students should be able to learn and do in each course or grade. When we compared P H Greene Elementary School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, with C D Landolt Elementary School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
P H Greene Elementary School has a regular student population of 598 with a 13.7 students/teacher ratio while C D Landolt Elementary School has 718 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.9 students/teacher ratio.
P H Greene Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. P H Greene Elementary School’s only distinction designation is in Read/ELA. C D Landolt Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, post-secondary and with 25% student progress.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at P H Greene Elementary School. They make up for 32.61% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (32.78%), African Americans (18.39%), Asians (8.86%), Two or More Races (6.86%) and Native Americans (0.50%).
At C D Landolt Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 58.50% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (24.51%), Asians (8.08%), African Americans (4.74%) and Two or More Races (3.76%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, P H Greene Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 56.35% compared to 51.67% at C D Landolt Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, P H Greene Elementary School has 78 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 13.04% of student population. C D Landolt Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 295 or about 41.09% of student population.
P H Greene Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 12.04%, gifted and talented students, 9.70%, while 15.38% are in the special education program. C D Landolt Elementary School bilingual students comprise 55.57%, gifted and talented students, 9.61%, and 12.40% are in the special education program.
