Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in New Directions is Hispanics who make up nearly 68.18% of student population, followed by African Americans (21.21%), Whites or Caucasians (6.06%), Asians (3.03%) and Two or More Races (1.52%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Seguin Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 52.03%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (43.50%), African Americans (2.44%) and Two or More Races (2.03%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, New Directions’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 86.36% compared to 69.92% at Seguin Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, New Directions has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 10.61% of its student population compared to 1.22% at Seguin Elementary School.
In addition, New Directions has 9.09% bilingual students, 4.55% are in the gifted and talented program, while 22.73% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Seguin Elementary School with 1.22% bilingual students, 8.54% gifted and talented students and 12.60% students in the special education program.
