Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Meyer Elementary School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, with Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Meyer Elementary School has a regular student population of 624 with a 14.4 students/teacher ratio while Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary School has 830 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.2 students/teacher ratio.

Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Meyer Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Meyer Elementary School. They make up for 59.13% of student population, followed by African Americans (26.28%), Whites or Caucasians (8.65%), Asians (3.04%), Two or More Races (2.56%) and Native Americans (0.16%).

Based on household incomes, Meyer Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 79.49% compared to 21.45% at Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Meyer Elementary School has 103 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 16.51% of student population. Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 137 or about 16.51% of student population.
In addition, Meyer Elementary School has 16.35% bilingual students, 5.93% are in the gifted and talented program, while 21.79% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary School with 16.39% bilingual students, 6.51% gifted and talented students and 15.30% students in the special education program.
