Both schools garnered only one distinction designation or award for performance. This is in Science.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Mark Twain Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 69.94% of student population, followed by African Americans (15.66%), Whites or Caucasians (6.47%), Asians (4.80%), Two or More Races (2.92%) and Native Americans (0.21%).
The student population at Richardson Heights Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 48.01%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (37.70%), African Americans (8.90%), Asians (2.58%), Two or More Races (2.34%) and Native Americans (0.47%).
Based on household incomes, Mark Twain Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 80.38% compared to 50.35% at Richardson Heights Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Mark Twain Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 62.84% of its student population compared to 37.00% at Richardson Heights Elementary School.
In addition, Mark Twain Elementary School has 62.84% bilingual students, 4.59% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.86% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Richardson Heights Elementary School with 36.77% bilingual students, 6.56% gifted and talented students and 17.56% students in the special education program.
