When we compared Marine Creek Middle School, which is a part of EAGLE MT-SAGINAW ISD, with Prairie Vista, which is a part of EAGLE MT-SAGINAW ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Marine Creek Middle School’s regular student population is 1,060 with a 16 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Prairie Vista is 895 students and a 17.1 students/teacher ratio.
Marine Creek Middle School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 72 in student achievement, 79 in school progress and 73 in closing performance gaps. It scored 77 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Prairie Vista earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 76 in student achievement, 83 in school progress, 76 in closing performance gaps and 81 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Prairie Vista's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Marine Creek Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Marine Creek Middle School. They make up for 49.81% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.75%), African Americans (17.64%), Two or More Races (3.30%), Asians (2.83%) and Native Americans (0.38%).
The student population at Prairie Vista is also predominantly by Hispanics at 34.19%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (26.59%), African Americans (26.15%), Asians (7.26%), Two or More Races (5.47%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
Based on household incomes, Marine Creek Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 55.57% compared to 44.80% at Prairie Vista.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Marine Creek Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 16.32% of its student population compared to 15.98% at Prairie Vista.
In addition, Marine Creek Middle School has 15.57% bilingual students, 6.60% are in the gifted and talented program, while 13.58% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Prairie Vista with 15.64% bilingual students, 9.39% gifted and talented students and 15.87% students in the special education program.
Marine Creek Middle School's 66 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 3.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.7 years. Teachers at Prairie Vista, numbering 52 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 5 years with individual teaching experience averaging 10.3 years.
Of its teaching staff, Marine Creek Middle School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has 12 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 18 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 13 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 20 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including three beginning teachers. Prairie Vista no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has seven teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 12 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 13 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 18 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including two beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. At Marine Creek Middle School there are 48 female teachers and 17 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, eight special education teachers are being assisted by ten teachers aides or paraprofessionals.
