When we compared Marine Creek Collegiate High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Eastern Hills High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted that the two schools are on opposite ends of the ratings spectrum.
Marine Creek Collegiate High School’s regular student population is 372 with a student-teacher ratio of 22.4 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Eastern Hills High School is 1,135 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.7 students/teacher ratio.
Marine Creek Collegiate High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 96 in student achievement, 95 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. It scored 97 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Eastern Hills High School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365. The school posted 61 in student achievement, 69 in school progress, 65 in closing performance gaps and 68 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Marine Creek Collegiate High School's two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Eastern Hills High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Marine Creek Collegiate High School is Hispanics who make up nearly 84.68% of student population, followed by African Americans (7.26%), Whites or Caucasians (6.72%), Asians (1.08%) and Two or More Races (0.27%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Eastern Hills High School is also predominantly by African Americans at 51.45%, followed by Hispanics (40.62%), Whites or Caucasians (3.08%), Two or More Races (3.08%), Asians (1.32%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, the Marine Creek Collegiate High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 82.80% compared to 93.22% at Eastern Hills High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Marine Creek Collegiate High School has 82 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 22.04% of student population. Eastern Hills High School has significantly more ELLs at 232 or about 20.44% of student population.
Marine Creek Collegiate High School’s bilingual students comprise 21.51%, gifted and talented students, 36.02%, while 2.15% are in the special education program. Eastern Hills High School bilingual students comprise 20.18%, gifted and talented students, 5.90%, and 13.83% are in the special education program.
