When we compared Mann Middle School, which is a part of AMARILLO ISD, with Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus, which is a part of AMARILLO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Mann Middle School’s regular student population is 465 with a 13.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus is 205 students and a 11.9 students/teacher ratio.
Mann Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 72 in student achievement, 85 in school progress and 75 in closing performance gaps. It scored 82 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Mann Middle School's two out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary and with 25% student progress. Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Mann Middle School. They make up for 58.49% of student population, followed by African Americans (20.65%), Whites or Caucasians (14.62%), Two or More Races (4.09%), Asians (1.51%) and Native Americans (0.65%).
At Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 63.41% of student population, followed by African Americans (19.51%), Whites or Caucasians (11.22%), Asians (3.90%) and Two or More Races (1.95%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Mann Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 86.88% compared to 91.71% at Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Mann Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 32.04% of its student population compared to 40.49% at Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus.
In addition, Mann Middle School has 31.40% bilingual students, 4.73% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.77% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Johnny N Allen-6th Grade Campus with 39.02% bilingual students, 4.88% gifted and talented students and 15.61% students in the special education program.
