Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Liestman Elementary School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, with Boone Elementary School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Liestman Elementary School has a regular student population of 702 with a 12.3 students/teacher ratio while Boone Elementary School has 639 students and a student-teacher ratio of 11.1 students/teacher ratio.
Liestman Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. On the other hand, Boone Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 62 in student achievement, 80 in school progress, 75 in closing performance gaps and 79 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Liestman Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA). Boone Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Liestman Elementary School. They make up for 56.55% of student population, followed by African Americans (24.93%), Asians (15.95%), Whites or Caucasians (2.14%) and Native Americans (0.28%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
At Boone Elementary School, Hispanics make up 68.70% of student population, followed by African Americans (24.26%), Asians (4.07%), Whites or Caucasians (2.50%), Native Americans (0.31%) and Two or More Races (0.16%).
Based on household incomes, the Liestman Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 85.61% compared to 89.67% at Boone Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Liestman Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 63.68% of its student population compared to 66.51% at Boone Elementary School.
In addition, Liestman Elementary School has 69.09% bilingual students, 1.57% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.68% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Boone Elementary School with 66.35% bilingual students, 4.23% gifted and talented students and 10.49% students in the special education program.
