Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Liberty Elementary School, which is a part of EAGLE PASS ISD, with Language Development Center, which is a part of EAGLE PASS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Liberty Elementary School has a regular student population of 467 with a 14.6 students/teacher ratio while Language Development Center has 428 students and a student-teacher ratio of 18.6 students/teacher ratio.
Liberty Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 97 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. It scored 98 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Language Development Center earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted only 88 overall in post-secondary readiness.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Liberty Elementary School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Language Development Center did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Liberty Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 96.57% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (3.00%), Asians (0.21%) and Native Americans (0.21%). There is no African Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Language Development Center, Hispanics make up 99.53% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (0.47%). There is no African Americans, Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Liberty Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 65.95% compared to 91.82% at Language Development Center.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Liberty Elementary School has 192 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 41.11% of student population. Language Development Center has significantly more ELLs at 234 or about 54.67% of student population.
Liberty Elementary School 10.06% are in the special education program, 9.21% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 38.12% students. Language Development Center has no gifted and talented student, while 7.71% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 53.74% students.
