Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Landis Elementary School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, with Kennedy Elementary School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Kennedy Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and with 25% student progress. Landis Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Landis Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 79.04% of student population, followed by African Americans (15.84%), Whites or Caucasians (2.81%), Asians (1.82%) and Native Americans (0.50%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
At Kennedy Elementary School, Hispanics make up 77.45% of student population, followed by African Americans (17.88%), Whites or Caucasians (2.18%), Asians (1.56%) and Native Americans (0.78%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Landis Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 90.76% compared to 90.67% at Kennedy Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Landis Elementary School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 75.58% of its student population compared to 69.83% at Kennedy Elementary School.
In addition, Landis Elementary School has 76.07% bilingual students, 0.50% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.06% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Kennedy Elementary School with 69.67% bilingual students, 0.93% gifted and talented students and 14.15% students in the special education program.
