Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Koennecke Elementary School, which is a part of SEGUIN ISD, with Vogel Elementary School, which is a part of SEGUIN ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Koennecke Elementary School has a regular student population of 511 with a 14.2 students/teacher ratio while Vogel Elementary School has 374 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.6 students/teacher ratio.

On the other hand, Vogel Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 72 in student achievement, 75 in school progress, 72 in closing performance gaps and 74 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Koennecke Elementary School and Vogel Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Koennecke Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 70.45% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (26.22%), Two or More Races (1.96%), African Americans (0.59%) and Asians (0.59%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Vogel Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 48.66%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (46.52%), African Americans (2.67%) and Two or More Races (2.14%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Koennecke Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 61.84% compared to 63.37% at Vogel Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Koennecke Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 24.46% of its student population compared to 2.14% at Vogel Elementary School.
Koennecke Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 29.35%, gifted and talented students, 6.85%, while 12.72% are in the special education program. Vogel Elementary School bilingual students comprise 0.27%, gifted and talented students, 6.15%, and 11.23% are in the special education program.
35 teachers employed at Koennecke Elementary School have been teaching in the school for an average of about 5.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging 8.6 years. The 24 teachers at Vogel Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 7.3 years with individual teaching experience averaging 8.8 years.
