Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. The current standards, called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, outline what students should be able to learn and do in each course or grade. When we compared Jubilee Living Way, which is a part of JUBILEE ACADEMIES, with Jubilee Highland Hills, which is a part of JUBILEE ACADEMIES, we noted that the two schools are on opposite ends of the ratings spectrum.
Jubilee Living Way has a regular student population of 369 with a 15.5 students/teacher ratio while Jubilee Highland Hills has 785 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.9 students/teacher ratio.
Jubilee Living Way performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 76 in student achievement, 92 in school progress and 88 in closing performance gaps. It scored 91 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Jubilee Highland Hills not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365. The school posted 56 in student achievement, 70 in school progress, 66 in closing performance gaps and 69 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Jubilee Living Way and Jubilee Highland Hills are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Jubilee Living Way is Hispanics who make up nearly 96.21% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.17%), Asians (1.08%) and Native Americans (0.54%). There is no African Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Jubilee Highland Hills, Hispanics make up 90.45% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (5.61%), African Americans (3.31%), Two or More Races (0.38%), Asians (0.13%) and Native Americans (0.13%).
Based on household incomes, the Jubilee Living Way’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 81.30% compared to 89.30% at Jubilee Highland Hills.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Jubilee Living Way has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 69.92% of its student population compared to 10.70% at Jubilee Highland Hills.
Jubilee Living Way’s bilingual students comprise 69.92%, gifted and talented students, 8.67%, while 2.44% are in the special education program. Jubilee Highland Hills bilingual students comprise 8.79%, gifted and talented students, 2.93%, and 10.83% are in the special education program.
23 teachers employed at Jubilee Living Way have been teaching in the school for an average of about 1.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging 2.1 years. The 49 teachers at Jubilee Highland Hills have been serving the school for an average of 1.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging 1.6 years.
Of its teaching staff, Jubilee Living Way no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, no teacher serving the school for 20-30 years, no teacher serving the school for 11-20 years, three teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 14 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including seven beginning teachers. Jubilee Highland Hills no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, no teacher serving the school for 20-30 years, minus two teacher have worked for 11-20 years, one teacher only has worked for 6-10 years, while 25 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 23 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. At Jubilee Living Way there are 21 female teachers and two male teachers. In addition to its teaching staff, the school has two staff members in the school administration department and eight more working as school support staff.
At Jubilee Highland Hills there are 38 female teachers and 11 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, five teachers are in special education without any assistance.
