Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for J L Boren Elementary School and Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at J L Boren Elementary School. They make up for 59.08% of student population, followed by Hispanics (16.83%), African Americans (12.71%), Two or More Races (6.60%), Asians (3.63%) and Native Americans (0.83%).
The student population at Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy is also predominantly by African Americans at 34.26%, followed by Hispanics (30.08%), Whites or Caucasians (25.91%), Asians (4.74%) and Two or More Races (4.74%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the J L Boren Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 23.27% compared to 59.89% at Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, J L Boren Elementary School has 30 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 4.95% of student population. Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy has significantly more ELLs at 60 or about 16.71% of student population.
J L Boren Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 4.95%, gifted and talented students, 4.13%, while 12.05% are in the special education program.
