When we compared Humble High School, which is a part of HUMBLE ISD, with Atascocita High School, which is a part of HUMBLE ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
Humble High School’s regular student population is 2,816 with a student-teacher ratio of 15.4 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Atascocita High School is 3,778 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.2 students/teacher ratio.
Humble High School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365 (Not Rated per SB 1365) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 69 in student achievement, 70 in school progress and 66 in closing performance gaps. It scored 69 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Atascocita High School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 82 in student achievement, 78 in school progress, 76 in closing performance gaps and 80 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Humble High School and Atascocita High School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Humble High School. They make up for 55.15% of student population, followed by African Americans (36.75%), Whites or Caucasians (4.30%), Two or More Races (1.88%), Asians (0.89%) and Native Americans (0.28%).
The student population at Atascocita High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 34.73%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (34.15%), African Americans (25.01%), Two or More Races (2.96%), Asians (2.41%) and Native Americans (0.40%).
Based on household incomes, Humble High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 67.19% compared to 34.52% at Atascocita High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Humble High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 18.47% of its student population compared to 3.52% at Atascocita High School.
In addition, Humble High School has 17.86% bilingual students, 2.95% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.09% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Atascocita High School with 3.04% bilingual students, 8.18% gifted and talented students and 8.63% students in the special education program.
Humble High School's 183 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 5 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 9.6 years. Atascocita High School's 220 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.2 years.
Of its teaching staff, Humble High School has one teacher only serving the school for over 30 years, has 17 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 56 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 43 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 51 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 16 beginning teachers. Atascocita High School has three teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 23 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 67 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 50 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 63 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 15 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Humble High School employs 109 female teachers and 73 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 18 special education teachers are being assisted by 27 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs six staff members in the school administration department and 11 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Atascocita High School employs 129 female teachers and 90 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 22 special education teachers are being assisted by 31 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs three staff members in the school administration department and 20 more working as school support staff.
