Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Henry B Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and post-secondary. H S Thompson Learning Center did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Henry B Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy is Hispanics who make up nearly 96.07% of student population, followed by African Americans (2.74%), Whites or Caucasians (0.68%), Two or More Races (0.34%) and Native Americans (0.17%). There is no Asians student in the school.
The student population at H S Thompson Learning Center is also predominantly by African Americans at 49.40%, followed by Hispanics (47.60%), Whites or Caucasians (1.40%), Two or More Races (0.80%), Asians (0.40%) and Native Americans (0.20%).
Based on household incomes, the Henry B Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 90.26% compared to 95.80% at H S Thompson Learning Center.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Henry B Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 74.02% of its student population compared to 42.20% at H S Thompson Learning Center.
Henry B Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy’s bilingual students comprise 69.40%, gifted and talented students, 18.29%, while 8.72% are in the special education program. H S Thompson Learning Center bilingual students comprise 41.00%, gifted and talented students, 8.40%, and 7.40% are in the special education program.
