When we compared Hamilton Middle School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Watkins Middle School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Hamilton Middle School’s regular student population is 1,506 with a 18.6 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Watkins Middle School is 1,520 students and a 16 students/teacher ratio.
Hamilton Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Hamilton Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Watkins Middle School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Hamilton Middle School. They make up for 44.89% of student population, followed by Hispanics (27.22%), African Americans (14.48%), Asians (9.76%), Two or More Races (3.52%) and Native Americans (0.13%).
At Watkins Middle School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 56.78% of student population, followed by African Americans (24.14%), Whites or Caucasians (9.47%), Asians (5.99%), Two or More Races (1.97%) and Native Americans (1.51%).
Based on household incomes, the Hamilton Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 35.59% compared to 75.79% at Watkins Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Hamilton Middle School has 82 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 5.44% of student population. Watkins Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 251 or about 16.51% of student population.
Hamilton Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 4.58%, gifted and talented students, 15.54%, while 9.89% are in the special education program. Watkins Middle School bilingual students comprise 14.47%, gifted and talented students, 3.68%, and 11.64% are in the special education program.
