It is in this area where the two schools differ. Geneva Heights Elementary School’s only distinction designation is in Science. Larry G Smith Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Science and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Geneva Heights Elementary School. They make up for 43.58% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (36.19%), African Americans (11.09%), Two or More Races (6.03%), Asians (2.14%) and Native Americans (0.58%).

Based on household incomes, the Geneva Heights Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 43.77% compared to 91.84% at Larry G Smith Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Geneva Heights Elementary School has 99 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 19.26% of student population. Larry G Smith Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 415 or about 53.76% of student population.
