Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Emile Elementary School, which is a part of BASTROP ISD, with Red Rock Elementary School, which is a part of BASTROP ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Emile Elementary School has a regular student population of 779 with a 15.4 students/teacher ratio while Red Rock Elementary School has 666 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14.3 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Red Rock Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Emile Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Emile Elementary School. They make up for 59.05% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (30.94%), Two or More Races (5.01%), African Americans (4.24%), Asians (0.51%) and Native Americans (0.26%).
At Red Rock Elementary School, Hispanics make up 80.18% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (17.12%), Two or More Races (1.65%), African Americans (0.75%) and Asians (0.30%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Emile Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 69.32% compared to 88.74% at Red Rock Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Emile Elementary School has 233 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 29.91% of student population. Red Rock Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 372 or about 55.86% of student population.
In addition, Emile Elementary School has 29.91% bilingual students, 2.31% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.07% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Red Rock Elementary School with 55.86% bilingual students, 2.70% gifted and talented students and 13.66% students in the special education program.
50 teachers employed at Emile Elementary School have been teaching in the school for an average of about 8.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging 14.5 years. The 46 teachers at Red Rock Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 5.8 years with individual teaching experience averaging 9.7 years.
