As your children go through high school, choosing the right school is equally important as deciding on a perfect home. When we compared Eisenhower High School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, with Victory Early College High School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, we noted that the two schools are on opposite ends of the ratings spectrum.
Eisenhower High School’s regular student population is 2,785 with a student-teacher ratio of 17.6 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Victory Early College High School is 409 students and a student-teacher ratio of 20.9 students/teacher ratio.
Eisenhower High School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365 (Not Rated per SB 1365) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 62 in student achievement, 68 in school progress and 63 in closing performance gaps. It scored 67 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Victory Early College High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 96 in student achievement, 94 in school progress, 87 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Victory Early College High School's two out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics and post-secondary. Eisenhower High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Eisenhower High School is Hispanics who make up nearly 70.20% of student population, followed by African Americans (25.28%), Whites or Caucasians (1.83%), Asians (1.58%), Two or More Races (1.01%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
At Victory Early College High School, Hispanics make up 75.79% of student population, followed by African Americans (19.32%), Whites or Caucasians (2.44%), Asians (1.22%), Native Americans (0.49%) and Two or More Races (0.49%).
Based on household incomes, Eisenhower High School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 86.46% compared to 85.09% at Victory Early College High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Eisenhower High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 30.38% of its student population compared to 7.58% at Victory Early College High School.
In addition, Eisenhower High School has 29.01% bilingual students, 4.99% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.29% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Victory Early College High School with 7.33% bilingual students, 22.25% gifted and talented students and 1.22% students in the special education program.
Eisenhower High School's 158 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.4 years. Victory Early College High School's 19 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.1 years.
Of its teaching staff, Eisenhower High School has seven teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 22 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 32 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 33 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 42 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 23 beginning teachers. Victory Early College High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has five teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, three teachers have worked for 11-20 years, four teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while six teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including two beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Eisenhower High School employs 84 female teachers and 73 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 20 special education teachers are being assisted by 17 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs ten staff members in the school administration department and 31 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Victory Early College High School employs 13 female teachers and five male teachers. The school also employs one staff members in the school administration department and two more working as school support staff.
