Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Dozier Elementary School, which is a part of EAGLE MT-SAGINAW ISD, with Northbrook Elementary School, which is a part of EAGLE MT-SAGINAW ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Dozier Elementary School has a regular student population of 658 with a 16.2 students/teacher ratio while Northbrook Elementary School has 551 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.5 students/teacher ratio.
Dozier Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Northbrook Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in post-secondary. Dozier Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Dozier Elementary School. They make up for 35.87% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (32.22%), African Americans (21.73%), Two or More Races (6.23%), Asians (3.19%) and Native Americans (0.15%).
The student population at Northbrook Elementary School is also predominantly by African Americans at 36.48%, followed by Hispanics (32.85%), Whites or Caucasians (17.60%), Asians (7.99%), Two or More Races (4.54%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, the Dozier Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 44.53% compared to 75.86% at Northbrook Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Dozier Elementary School has 62 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 9.42% of student population. Northbrook Elementary School has more ELLs at 83 or about 15.06% of student population.
Dozier Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 8.66%, gifted and talented students, 6.38%, while 10.79% are in the special education program. Northbrook Elementary School bilingual students comprise 14.70%, gifted and talented students, 4.90%, and 11.62% are in the special education program.

The 35 teachers at Northbrook Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 5.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging 10.3 years.
