Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. When we compared Dean Leaman J H School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, with George Junior High School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.
Dean Leaman J H School’s regular student population is 1,848 with a 18.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at George Junior High School is 1,106 students and a 15.1 students/teacher ratio.
Dean Leaman J H School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Dean Leaman J H School and George Junior High School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Dean Leaman J H School. They make up for 38.42% of student population, followed by Hispanics (28.84%), African Americans (20.78%), Asians (6.17%), Two or More Races (5.14%) and Native Americans (0.27%).
At George Junior High School, Hispanics make up 78.39% of student population, followed by African Americans (9.76%), Whites or Caucasians (9.40%), Two or More Races (1.36%), Asians (0.90%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, the Dean Leaman J H School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 27.87% compared to 79.02% at George Junior High School.
