When we compared Coop Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, with Memorial Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Memorial Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Coop Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Coop Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 89.08% of student population, followed by African Americans (8.98%), Whites or Caucasians (1.58%) and Two or More Races (0.35%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
At Memorial Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 60.60% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (19.57%), African Americans (8.15%), Two or More Races (5.98%), Asians (5.16%) and Native Americans (0.54%).
Based on household incomes, Coop Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 97.36% compared to 54.89% at Memorial Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Coop Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 50.88% of its student population compared to 29.89% at Memorial Elementary School.
In addition, Coop Elementary School has 63.03% bilingual students, 2.82% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.80% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Memorial Elementary School with 56.52% bilingual students, 8.70% gifted and talented students and 11.96% students in the special education program.
