Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Como Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with M L Phillips Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
M L Phillips Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in Science. Como Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Como Elementary School. They make up for 48.82% of student population, followed by Hispanics (40.94%), Whites or Caucasians (4.99%), Asians (2.89%) and Two or More Races (2.36%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at M L Phillips Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 51.25%, followed by African Americans (34.17%), Whites or Caucasians (11.62%), Two or More Races (2.51%) and Asians (0.46%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Como Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 95.28% compared to 91.34% at M L Phillips Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Como Elementary School has a slightly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 32.28% of its student population compared to 24.83% at M L Phillips Elementary School.
Como Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 30.71%, gifted and talented students, 4.72%, while 8.14% are in the special education program. M L Phillips Elementary School bilingual students comprise 25.51%, gifted and talented students, 4.10%, and 17.08% are in the special education program.
