When we compared College Park High School, which is a part of CONROE ISD, with Caney Creek High School, which is a part of CONROE ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.
College Park High School’s regular student population is 3,237 with a student-teacher ratio of 17.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Caney Creek High School is 2,264 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.9 students/teacher ratio.
College Park High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 93 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 89 in closing performance gaps. It scored 92 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Caney Creek High School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 79 in student achievement, 79 in school progress, 71 in closing performance gaps and 77 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
College Park High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and Science. Caney Creek High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at College Park High School. They make up for 49.80% of student population, followed by Hispanics (28.08%), Asians (9.02%), African Americans (8.28%), Two or More Races (4.32%) and Native Americans (0.37%).
At Caney Creek High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 63.96% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (32.24%), African Americans (1.99%), Two or More Races (1.06%), Native Americans (0.57%) and Asians (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, the College Park High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 23.11% compared to 72.48% at Caney Creek High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, College Park High School has 232 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 7.17% of student population. Caney Creek High School has significantly more ELLs at 488 or about 21.55% of student population.
College Park High School’s bilingual students comprise 6.95%, gifted and talented students, 14.52%, while 5.44% are in the special education program. Caney Creek High School bilingual students comprise 20.01%, gifted and talented students, 3.98%, and 10.25% are in the special education program.
College Park High School's 188 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12.7 years. Caney Creek High School's 142 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 5.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.2 years.
Of its teaching staff, College Park High School has three teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 30 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 69 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 41 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 38 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including nine beginning teachers. On the other hand, Caney Creek High School employs 80 female teachers and 62 male teachers.
