When we compared Clear Springs High School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, with Clear Brook High School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Clear Springs High School’s regular student population is 2,773 with a student-teacher ratio of 16.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Clear Brook High School is 2,420 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17 students/teacher ratio.
Clear Springs High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 82 in school progress and 88 in closing performance gaps. It scored 91 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Clear Brook High School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 89 in student achievement, 80 in school progress, 82 in closing performance gaps and 87 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Clear Springs High School and Clear Brook High School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Clear Springs High School. They make up for 52.72% of student population, followed by Hispanics (26.58%), Asians (9.02%), African Americans (6.78%), Two or More Races (4.29%) and Native Americans (0.36%).
The student population at Clear Brook High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 38.76%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (26.40%), Asians (19.79%), African Americans (10.58%), Two or More Races (4.21%) and Native Americans (0.12%).
Based on household incomes, the Clear Springs High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 16.19% compared to 36.24% at Clear Brook High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Clear Springs High School has 75 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.70% of student population. Clear Brook High School has significantly more ELLs at 144 or about 5.95% of student population.
In addition, Clear Springs High School has 2.20% bilingual students, 12.59% are in the gifted and talented program, while 9.84% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Clear Brook High School with 5.50% bilingual students, 13.02% gifted and talented students and 12.40% students in the special education program.
Clear Springs High School's 165 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 11.3 years. Clear Brook High School's 142 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.1 years.
Of its teaching staff, Clear Springs High School has five teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 19 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 54 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 44 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 31 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 12 beginning teachers. Of its teaching staff, 25 special education teachers are being assisted by 13 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs seven staff members in the school administration department and 17 more working as school support staff.
