Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Campbell Elementary School, which is a part of AUSTIN ISD, with Highland Park Elementary School, which is a part of AUSTIN ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.

Highland Park Elementary School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Campbell Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Campbell Elementary School. They make up for 40.83% of student population, followed by Hispanics (24.85%), Whites or Caucasians (19.53%), Two or More Races (8.28%) and Asians (6.51%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Highland Park Elementary School, Whites or Caucasians make up 74.81% of student population, followed by Hispanics (13.69%), Two or More Races (5.44%), Asians (4.98%), African Americans (0.93%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
Based on household incomes, Campbell Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 75.74% compared to 6.22% at Highland Park Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Campbell Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 18.34% of its student population compared to 0.93% at Highland Park Elementary School.
In addition, Campbell Elementary School has 18.34% bilingual students, 10.65% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.43% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Highland Park Elementary School with 0.93% bilingual students, 11.20% gifted and talented students and 8.09% students in the special education program.
