Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Burton Hill Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Daggett Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.
Burton Hill Elementary School has a regular student population of 346 with a 10.4 students/teacher ratio while Daggett Elementary School has 533 students and a student-teacher ratio of 13.7 students/teacher ratio.
Burton Hill Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 91 in student achievement, 92 in school progress and 90 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Burton Hill Elementary School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Daggett Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Burton Hill Elementary School. They make up for 51.45% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (34.68%), African Americans (9.83%), Two or More Races (2.89%) and Asians (1.16%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Daggett Elementary School, Hispanics make up 81.43% of student population, followed by African Americans (8.26%), Whites or Caucasians (7.13%), Asians (1.69%) and Two or More Races (1.50%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Burton Hill Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 60.12% compared to 85.74% at Daggett Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Burton Hill Elementary School has 31 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 8.96% of student population. Daggett Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 259 or about 48.59% of student population.
Burton Hill Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 21.68%, gifted and talented students, 8.67%, while 17.34% are in the special education program. Daggett Elementary School bilingual students comprise 51.03%, gifted and talented students, 4.69%, and 16.32% are in the special education program.
