When we compared Brookside Intermediate, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, with League City Intermediate, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Brookside Intermediate’s regular student population is 945 with a 14.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at League City Intermediate is 1,103 students and a 17.4 students/teacher ratio.
Brookside Intermediate earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 83 in student achievement, 80 in school progress and 82 in closing performance gaps. It scored 83 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, League City Intermediate performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 88 in school progress, 92 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
League City Intermediate's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and post-secondary. Brookside Intermediate has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Brookside Intermediate. They make up for 39.05% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (36.40%), Asians (10.48%), African Americans (9.52%), Two or More Races (4.44%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
At League City Intermediate, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 55.49% of student population, followed by Hispanics (23.12%), Asians (10.15%), Two or More Races (6.26%), African Americans (4.35%) and Native Americans (0.36%).
Based on household incomes, Brookside Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 43.17% compared to 20.76% at League City Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Brookside Intermediate has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 7.94% of its student population compared to 5.98% at League City Intermediate.
Additionally, Brookside Intermediate has 6.46% bilingual students, 3.81% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.61% are in the special education program. League City Intermediate’s bilingual students comprise 5.80% of student population while 8.16% are in the special education program. League City Intermediate bested Brookside Intermediate in one area, with nearly 58.30% of its student population in the gifted and talented program.
Brookside Intermediate's 63 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging 10.9 years. Teachers at League City Intermediate, numbering 63 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 7.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging 12.1 years.
Of its teaching staff, Brookside Intermediate has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has nine teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 16 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, ten teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 23 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including four beginning teachers. League City Intermediate has four teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 11 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 15 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, ten teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 16 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including seven beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. At Brookside Intermediate there are 43 female teachers and 19 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 15 special education teachers are being assisted by 12 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. In addition to its teaching staff, the school has three staff members in the school administration department and eight more working as school support staff.
