Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Brookline Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, with Dogan Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Brookline Elementary School has a regular student population of 764 with a 16.9 students/teacher ratio while Dogan Elementary School has 493 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14.1 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Brookline Elementary School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Dogan Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Brookline Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 95.68% of student population, followed by African Americans (3.40%), Whites or Caucasians (0.79%) and Asians (0.13%). There is no Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Dogan Elementary School, Hispanics make up 70.18% of student population, followed by African Americans (28.40%), Two or More Races (0.81%) and Whites or Caucasians (0.61%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Brookline Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 96.47% compared to 97.77% at Dogan Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Brookline Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 66.62% of its student population compared to 39.15% at Dogan Elementary School.
Brookline Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 61.65%, gifted and talented students, 5.63%, while 4.58% are in the special education program. Dogan Elementary School bilingual students comprise 38.95%, gifted and talented students, 0.81%, and 8.32% are in the special education program.
45 teachers employed at Brookline Elementary School have been teaching in the school for an average of about 12.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging 14.3 years.
