De Zavala Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Briscoe Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Briscoe Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 98.10% of student population, followed by African Americans (0.95%), Asians (0.47%) and Native Americans (0.47%). There is no Two or More Races and Whites or Caucasians students in the school.
At De Zavala Elementary School, Hispanics make up 98.01% of student population, followed by African Americans (1.32%), Asians (0.44%) and Whites or Caucasians (0.22%). There is no Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Briscoe Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 95.26% compared to 96.03% at De Zavala Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Briscoe Elementary School has 107 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 50.71% of student population. De Zavala Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 218 or about 48.12% of student population.
In addition, Briscoe Elementary School has 49.76% bilingual students, 5.69% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.85% are in the special education program. This stacks up against De Zavala Elementary School with 46.58% bilingual students, 16.11% gifted and talented students and 7.28% students in the special education program.
