Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. The current standards, called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, outline what students should be able to learn and do in each course or grade. The curriculum is structured around the fundamentals of mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, music and reading.
When we compared Bridge Assoc, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with A M Pate Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
Bridge Assoc has a regular student population of seven with a 6.3 students/teacher ratio while A M Pate Elementary School has 360 students and a student-teacher ratio of 13.6 students/teacher ratio.
A M Pate Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 59 in student achievement, 88 in school progress and 72 in closing performance gaps. Distinction Designations for Bridge Assoc and A M Pate Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Bridge Assoc. They make up for 42.86% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (42.86%) and Hispanics (14.29%). There is no Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At A M Pate Elementary School, African Americans make up 66.11% of student population, followed by Hispanics (29.72%), Two or More Races (1.94%), Whites or Caucasians (1.39%) and Asians (0.28%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Bridge Assoc’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 14.29% compared to 98.89% at A M Pate Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Bridge Assoc has no English Language Learners or ELLS. A M Pate Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 151 or about 41.94% of student population.
Bridge Assoc has no gifted and talented and bilingual students, while 28.57% are in the special education program. A M Pate Elementary School 6.67% are in the special education program, 6.67% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 49.72% students.
