Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Boulevard Heights, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted that the two schools are on opposite ends of the ratings spectrum.
Boulevard Heights has a regular student population of 44 with a 3.2 students/teacher ratio while Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School has 350 students and a student-teacher ratio of 12.2 students/teacher ratio.
Boulevard Heights performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on two domains: student achievement and school progress. A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Boulevard Heights's two out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary and with 25% student progress. Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Boulevard Heights. They make up for 40.91% of student population, followed by African Americans (31.82%) and Whites or Caucasians (27.27%). There is no Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School, Hispanics make up 93.43% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (4.00%), African Americans (2.29%) and Two or More Races (0.29%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Boulevard Heights’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 86.36% compared to 96.00% at Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Boulevard Heights has no English Language Learners or ELLS. Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 174 or about 49.71% of student population.
Boulevard Heights has no gifted and talented and bilingual students, while 100.00% are in the special education program. Rufino Mendoza Sr Elementary School 13.71% are in the special education program, 6.00% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 47.71% students.
