When we compared Booker T Washington Spva Magnet, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, with Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Booker T Washington Spva Magnet’s regular student population is 949 with a student-teacher ratio of 16.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy is 219 students and a student-teacher ratio of 11.5 students/teacher ratio.
Booker T Washington Spva Magnet earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 95 in student achievement, 91 in school progress and 87 in closing performance gaps. It scored 89 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 80 in student achievement, 82 in school progress, 76 in closing performance gaps and 79 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Booker T Washington Spva Magnet's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy’s only distinction designation is in Science.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Booker T Washington Spva Magnet. They make up for 37.20% of student population, followed by Hispanics (34.56%), African Americans (20.65%), Two or More Races (3.58%), Asians (3.48%) and Native Americans (0.42%).
At Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 63.93% of student population, followed by African Americans (29.22%), Whites or Caucasians (4.57%), Asians (1.37%) and Two or More Races (0.91%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Booker T Washington Spva Magnet’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 28.45% compared to 83.11% at Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Booker T Washington Spva Magnet has 59 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 6.22% of student population. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy has significantly more ELLs at 82 or about 37.44% of student population.
Booker T Washington Spva Magnet’s bilingual students comprise 6.11%, gifted and talented students, 26.03%, while 1.69% are in the special education program. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy bilingual students comprise 36.07%, gifted and talented students, 10.50%, and 14.61% are in the special education program.
Booker T Washington Spva Magnet's 56 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 9.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12.7 years. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy's 19 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 4.3 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 6.4 years.
Of its teaching staff, Booker T Washington Spva Magnet has four teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has six teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 18 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 15 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 12 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including two beginning teachers. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has one teacher only serving the school for 20-30 years, three teachers have worked for 11-20 years, four teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while eight teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including three beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Booker T Washington Spva Magnet employs 30 female teachers and 25 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, one special education teacher is being assisted by one teacher only aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and eight more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy employs 12 female teachers and seven male teachers. Of its teaching staff, one special education teacher is being assisted by three teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs three staff members in the school administration department and three more working as school support staff.
