Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. When we compared Bohls Middle School, which is a part of PFLUGERVILLE ISD, with Cele Middle School, which is a part of PFLUGERVILLE ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.
Bohls Middle School’s regular student population is 724 with a 13.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Cele Middle School is 726 students and a 14.2 students/teacher ratio.
Bohls Middle School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 77 in student achievement, 79 in school progress and 76 in closing performance gaps. It scored 78 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Cele Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 91 in student achievement, 89 in school progress, 96 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Bohls Middle School and Cele Middle School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Bohls Middle School. They make up for 49.31% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (20.99%), African Americans (14.50%), Asians (9.12%) and Two or More Races (5.66%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Cele Middle School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 35.26%, followed by Hispanics (34.30%), African Americans (12.67%), Asians (9.50%), Two or More Races (7.99%) and Native Americans (0.14%).
Based on household incomes, Bohls Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 44.06% compared to 20.66% at Cele Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Bohls Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 25.69% of its student population compared to 9.23% at Cele Middle School.
In addition, Bohls Middle School has 25.55% bilingual students, 11.19% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.77% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Cele Middle School with 9.09% bilingual students, 11.43% gifted and talented students and 9.37% students in the special education program.
Bohls Middle School's 52 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 3.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging 9.2 years. Teachers at Cele Middle School, numbering 51 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 6.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.8 years.
