When we compared Blackshear Elementary School, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, with Metzler Elementary School, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Blackshear Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Metzler Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Blackshear Elementary School. They make up for 44.54% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.38%), African Americans (12.31%), Asians (11.93%), Two or More Races (5.20%) and Native Americans (0.51%).
The student population at Metzler Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 42.91%, followed by Hispanics (32.77%), African Americans (11.71%), Asians (6.53%), Two or More Races (5.97%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
Based on household incomes, Blackshear Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 52.28% compared to 37.95% at Metzler Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Blackshear Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 26.40% of its student population compared to 11.15% at Metzler Elementary School.
Blackshear Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 25.76%, gifted and talented students, 6.09%, while 12.18% are in the special education program. Metzler Elementary School bilingual students comprise 10.02%, gifted and talented students, 5.86%, and 13.51% are in the special education program.
