Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Beckham Elementary School, which is a part of ARLINGTON ISD, with Kooken Ed Ctr, which is a part of ARLINGTON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Beckham Elementary School has a regular student population of 416 with a 14.3 students/teacher ratio while Kooken Ed Ctr has 209 students and a student-teacher ratio of 23.5 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Beckham Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in Science. Kooken Ed Ctr did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Asians comprise the biggest group at Beckham Elementary School. They make up for 29.81% of student population, followed by African Americans (27.64%), Hispanics (25.24%), Whites or Caucasians (10.82%), Two or More Races (6.25%) and Native Americans (0.24%).
The student population at Kooken Ed Ctr is also predominantly by Hispanics at 50.72%, followed by African Americans (34.45%), Whites or Caucasians (9.57%), Two or More Races (4.31%) and Asians (0.96%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Beckham Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 70.19% compared to 93.30% at Kooken Ed Ctr.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Beckham Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 42.31% of its student population compared to 45.93% at Kooken Ed Ctr.
Beckham Elementary School 9.62% are in the special education program, 10.58% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 41.11% students. Kooken Ed Ctr has no gifted and talented student, while 11.00% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 45.93% students.
