Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
George Ranch High School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. B F Terry High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in B F Terry High School is Hispanics who make up nearly 75.87% of student population, followed by African Americans (13.42%), Whites or Caucasians (7.91%), Two or More Races (1.63%), Asians (0.97%) and Native Americans (0.10%).
The student population at George Ranch High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 35.30%, followed by Hispanics (27.95%), African Americans (22.54%), Asians (10.28%), Two or More Races (3.47%) and Native Americans (0.27%).
Based on household incomes, B F Terry High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 74.39% compared to 31.11% at George Ranch High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, B F Terry High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 16.33% of its student population compared to 3.85% at George Ranch High School.
In addition, B F Terry High School has 15.77% bilingual students, 2.81% are in the gifted and talented program, while 15.00% are in the special education program. This stacks up against George Ranch High School with 3.69% bilingual students, 13.48% gifted and talented students and 8.30% students in the special education program.
