When we compared Armstrong Elementary School, which is a part of CONROE ISD, with Kaufman Elementary School, which is a part of CONROE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Armstrong Elementary School has a regular student population of 605 with a 14.4 students/teacher ratio while Kaufman Elementary School has 869 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.8 students/teacher ratio.
Armstrong Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Armstrong Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in Mathematics. Kaufman Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Armstrong Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 71.74% of student population, followed by African Americans (12.89%), Whites or Caucasians (11.57%), Two or More Races (2.81%) and Native Americans (0.83%). There is no Asians student in the school.
At Kaufman Elementary School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 61.57% of student population, followed by Hispanics (21.63%), African Americans (8.17%), Two or More Races (4.26%), Asians (3.91%) and Native Americans (0.35%).
Based on household incomes, Armstrong Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 94.38% compared to 23.25% at Kaufman Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Armstrong Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 54.88% of its student population compared to 5.75% at Kaufman Elementary School.
In addition, Armstrong Elementary School has 53.88% bilingual students, 0.33% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.91% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Kaufman Elementary School with 5.75% bilingual students, 5.87% gifted and talented students and 11.05% students in the special education program.
