When we compared Arlington Heights High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Paschal High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Arlington Heights High School’s regular student population is 1,872 with a student-teacher ratio of 15.2 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Paschal High School is 2,263 students and a student-teacher ratio of 16.9 students/teacher ratio.
Arlington Heights High School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 74 in student achievement, 75 in school progress and 63 in closing performance gaps. It scored 71 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Paschal High School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 82 in student achievement, 83 in school progress, 72 in closing performance gaps and 80 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Arlington Heights High School’s only distinction designation is in Science. Paschal High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Arlington Heights High School. They make up for 52.67% of student population, followed by African Americans (22.76%), Whites or Caucasians (20.78%), Two or More Races (2.19%), Asians (1.34%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
At Paschal High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 64.74% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.19%), African Americans (6.23%), Asians (2.12%), Two or More Races (1.63%) and Native Americans (0.09%).
Based on household incomes, Arlington Heights High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 71.74% compared to 61.78% at Paschal High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Arlington Heights High School has 349 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 18.64% of student population. Paschal High School has significantly more ELLs at 450 or about 19.89% of student population.
In addition, Arlington Heights High School has 18.00% bilingual students, 16.72% are in the gifted and talented program, while 9.62% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Paschal High School with 18.60% bilingual students, 26.03% gifted and talented students and 7.16% students in the special education program.
Arlington Heights High School's 123 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12.5 years. Paschal High School's 133 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 12.4 years.
Of its teaching staff, Arlington Heights High School has eight teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 19 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 35 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 26 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 29 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including six beginning teachers. Paschal High School has six teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 21 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 41 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 29 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 31 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including six beginning teachers.
In both schools, male teachers outnumber the female teachers. Arlington Heights High School employs 51 male teachers and 71 female teachers. Of its teaching staff, nine special education teachers are being assisted by 12 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and 20 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Paschal High School employs 57 male teachers and 76 female teachers. Of its teaching staff, five special education teachers are being assisted by seven teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and 19 more working as school support staff.
