A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Alta Vista Elementary School and Hillcrest Pds Magnet are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Alta Vista Elementary School. They make up for 64.68% of student population, followed by African Americans (20.83%), Whites or Caucasians (10.12%), Two or More Races (3.97%) and Native Americans (0.40%). There is no Asians student in the school.
At Hillcrest Pds Magnet, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 59.23% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (20.96%), African Americans (15.49%) and Two or More Races (4.33%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, Alta Vista Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 90.67% compared to 70.39% at Hillcrest Pds Magnet.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Alta Vista Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 26.19% of its student population compared to 11.39% at Hillcrest Pds Magnet.
In addition, Alta Vista Elementary School has 24.40% bilingual students, 4.17% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.93% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Hillcrest Pds Magnet with 11.39% bilingual students, 15.49% gifted and talented students and 10.02% students in the special education program.
