When we compared Allen Elementary School, which is a part of NORTHSIDE ISD, with Behlau Elementary School, which is a part of NORTHSIDE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Allen Elementary School has a regular student population of 464 with a 12 students/teacher ratio while Behlau Elementary School has 612 students and a student-teacher ratio of 16.3 students/teacher ratio.
Allen Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Allen Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Behlau Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Allen Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 95.47% of student population, followed by African Americans (1.94%), Whites or Caucasians (1.94%) and Two or More Races (0.65%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
At Behlau Elementary School, Hispanics make up 68.63% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (14.87%), African Americans (10.29%), Two or More Races (4.25%), Asians (1.47%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
Based on household incomes, Allen Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 91.16% compared to 43.30% at Behlau Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Allen Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 25.86% of its student population compared to 3.76% at Behlau Elementary School.
Allen Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 27.16%, gifted and talented students, 3.88%, while 15.95% are in the special education program. Behlau Elementary School bilingual students comprise 0.65%, gifted and talented students, 3.10%, and 15.69% are in the special education program.
