Alice D Contreras's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Manuel Jara Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Alice D Contreras is Hispanics who make up nearly 94.54% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.07%), African Americans (1.69%), Asians (0.75%), Two or More Races (0.75%) and Native Americans (0.19%).
At Manuel Jara Elementary School, Hispanics make up 96.71% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (1.90%), African Americans (0.87%), Asians (0.35%) and Native Americans (0.17%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Alice D Contreras’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 91.15% compared to 92.56% at Manuel Jara Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Alice D Contreras has 302 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 56.87% of student population. Manuel Jara Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 330 or about 57.09% of student population.
Alice D Contreras’s bilingual students comprise 52.54%, gifted and talented students, 6.78%, while 8.29% are in the special education program. Manuel Jara Elementary School bilingual students comprise 53.98%, gifted and talented students, 2.77%, and 11.59% are in the special education program.
