When we compared Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, with Ewell D Walker Middle School, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy’s regular student population is 680 with a 14.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Ewell D Walker Middle School is 781 students and a 14.7 students/teacher ratio.

Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Social Studies and post-secondary. Ewell D Walker Middle School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy is Hispanics who make up nearly 66.91% of student population, followed by African Americans (27.50%), Whites or Caucasians (3.24%), Two or More Races (1.18%) and Asians (1.03%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Ewell D Walker Middle School, Hispanics make up 66.97% of student population, followed by African Americans (22.41%), Whites or Caucasians (5.51%), Two or More Races (2.18%), Asians (1.66%) and Native Americans (1.15%).
Based on household incomes, the Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 85.59% compared to 86.81% at Ewell D Walker Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy has 290 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 42.65% of student population. Ewell D Walker Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 382 or about 48.91% of student population.
Alex W Spence Talented/Gifted Academy’s bilingual students comprise 39.85%, gifted and talented students, 36.76%, while 10.59% are in the special education program.
