Mcneil High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 94 in student achievement, 87 in school progress and 87 in closing performance gaps. It scored 92 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Early College High School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 94 in student achievement, 90 in school progress, 90 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.

Distinction Designations

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Mcneil High School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and post-secondary. Early College High School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Mcneil High School. They make up for 31.19% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (30.06%), Asians (24.40%), African Americans (8.95%), Two or More Races (4.91%) and Native Americans (0.34%).

The student population at Early College High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 45.69%, followed by Hispanics (25.47%), Asians (13.11%), African Americans (8.24%) and Two or More Races (6.74%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.

Based on household incomes, Mcneil High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 24.66% compared to 19.48% at Early College High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Mcneil High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 15.60% of its student population compared to 7.12% at Early College High School.

Mcneil High School's 159 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 5.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.6 years. Early College High School's 16 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 4.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 11.4 years.

Of its teaching staff, Mcneil High School has four teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 21 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 43 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 28 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 48 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 15 beginning teachers.
