Austin High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 88 in school progress and 82 in closing performance gaps. It scored 89 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Mccallum High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 92 in student achievement, 87 in school progress, 90 in closing performance gaps and 91 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Austin High School’s three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies and post-secondary. Mccallum High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Social Studies, post-secondary and with 25% student progress.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Austin High School. They make up for 51.62% of student population, followed by Hispanics (38.99%), Two or More Races (4.44%), African Americans (2.76%), Asians (1.98%) and Native Americans (0.17%).

At Mccallum High School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 56.81% of student population, followed by Hispanics (30.62%), African Americans (5.49%), Two or More Races (4.65%), Asians (2.11%) and Native Americans (0.21%).

Based on household incomes, Austin High School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 24.08% compared to 23.02% at Mccallum High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Austin High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 9.48% of its student population compared to 8.03% at Mccallum High School.

In addition, Austin High School has 9.18% bilingual students, 20.25% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.11% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Mccallum High School with 7.44% bilingual students, 21.44% gifted and talented students and 12.51% students in the special education program.
