Tays Junior High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 95 in student achievement, 93 in school progress and 96 in closing performance gaps. For Tays Junior High School these are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps while Nelson Junior High School secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Asians comprise the biggest group at Tays Junior High School. They make up for 40.38% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.94%), Hispanics (19.78%), African Americans (8.62%), Two or More Races (4.79%) and Native Americans (0.27%).

The student population at Nelson Junior High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 40.60%, followed by African Americans (29.76%), Asians (12.61%), Whites or Caucasians (10.95%), Two or More Races (5.31%) and Native Americans (0.66%).

Based on household incomes, the Tays Junior High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 15.33% compared to 51.22% at Nelson Junior High School.
