Katy High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 86 in student achievement, 88 in school progress and 92 in closing performance gaps. It scored 89 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Mayde Creek High School also earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 73 in student achievement, 83 in school progress, 88 in closing performance gaps and 85 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Katy High School’s only distinction designation is in Social Studies. Mayde Creek High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Science, Social Studies and 25% closing performance gaps.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Katy High School. They make up for 41.15% of student population, followed by Hispanics (36.33%), African Americans (12.02%), Asians (6.24%), Two or More Races (3.90%) and Native Americans (0.23%).

At Mayde Creek High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 59.94% of student population, followed by African Americans (20.54%), Whites or Caucasians (10.32%), Asians (5.90%), Two or More Races (2.77%) and Native Americans (0.46%).

Based on household incomes, the Katy High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 36.83% compared to 76.59% at Mayde Creek High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Katy High School has 436 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 12.31% of student population. Mayde Creek High School has significantly more ELLs at 819 or about 27.00% of student population.

Katy High School’s bilingual students comprise 11.94%, gifted and talented students, 8.72%, while 14.54% are in the special education program. Mayde Creek High School bilingual students comprise 25.65%, gifted and talented students, 4.15%, and 14.74% are in the special education program.

Katy High School's 230 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 9.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 13.7 years. Mayde Creek High School's 213 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 11 years.

Of its teaching staff, Katy High School has 20 teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 38 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 65 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 52 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 43 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 14 beginning teachers. Mayde Creek High School has six teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 28 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 52 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 47 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 66 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 14 beginning teachers.
