White Oak Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. White Oak Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies, post-secondary and with 25% student progress. Hallsville Intermediate’s only distinction designation is in Science.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in White Oak Middle School is Whites or Caucasians who make up nearly 83.70% of student population, followed by Hispanics (7.73%), Two or More Races (5.52%), African Americans (1.66%), Asians (0.83%) and Native Americans (0.55%).

At Hallsville Intermediate, Whites or Caucasians make up 66.09% of student population, followed by Hispanics (19.13%), African Americans (8.97%), Two or More Races (5.15%), Asians (0.26%) and Native Americans (0.26%).

Based on household incomes, the White Oak Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 39.23% compared to 44.06% at Hallsville Intermediate.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, White Oak Middle School has 5 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 1.38% of student population. Hallsville Intermediate has significantly more ELLs at 54 or about 7.12% of student population.
