First Colony Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 87 in school progress and 92 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

Fort Settlement Middle School's seven out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. First Colony Middle School has no distinction.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Asians comprise the biggest group at First Colony Middle School. They make up for 43.89% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (16.71%), Hispanics (15.76%), African Americans (15.68%), Two or More Races (7.25%) and Native Americans (0.39%).

At Fort Settlement Middle School, Asians make up 66.60% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (14.11%), Hispanics (7.92%), African Americans (6.32%), Two or More Races (4.66%) and Native Americans (0.33%).

Based on household incomes, First Colony Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 27.66% compared to 12.11% at Fort Settlement Middle School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, First Colony Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 13.24% of its student population compared to 6.92% at Fort Settlement Middle School.
